Official Representatives of the Moo Duk Kwan ® and Kwan Jang Nim
Members of the Federation and the general public have access to over four hundred (400) Moo Duk Kwan® certified Ko Dan Ja, Certified Teaching Programs and Certified Schools across the USA who are dedicated to the Federation’s mission in instructing the Soo Bahk Do martial art system as intended by founder Hwang Kee and they are published here.
Effective January 2019 the Board adopted new standards of excellence for the Federation’s most highly trained practitioners through its Background Check and Continuing Education Program and all Moo Duk Kwan® certified instructors who are Background Check Approved are published here.
Even if you are not a Ko Dan Ja or school owner and you are interested in someday serving the Moo Duk Kwan® and the Federation in the capacity of a Federation Official (Board, TAC, REX, etc.), please take a moment to signup for future consideration. No. Tang Soo Do is not the same as Soo Bahk Do®. The Tang Soo Do martial art system developed by Hwang Kee was a precursor to his more advanced Soo Bahk Do martial art system.
Moo Duk Kwan martial art school Founder Hwang Kee taught an early iteration of his martial art system and philosophy under the name “Tang Soo Do.” Later he modified the contents of his system and coined the name “Soo Bahk Do®” to identify his unique martial art system as taught in all authorized Moo Duk Kwan martial art schools worldwide.
Jo Kyo, Kyo Sa, Sa Bom Instructor Certification Opportunities
Members interested in applying for certification from the Moo Duk Kwan® to become Jo Kyo, Kyo Sa, Sa Bom Certified Instructors of the Soo Bahk Do® martial art system need to plan ahead and acquire the respective Instructor Certification Study kits well in advance.
